“I haven’t missed a Memorial Day Parade in 40 years. Despite its festive atmosphere, its an occasion of great reflection and awe. The Gold Star Mothers waving from the antique cars are fewer in number. But their Association thrives; see their website. If all the GOLD STAR MOTHERS from 1946 to the present were invited to parades, the lines would stretch for miles. They should ride in red. white and blue Mustangs. Do you know what they do now? They are a service organization for veterans. Moms just keep on giving. God bless all these heroes, soldiers and their families.”
