Glastonbury Obituary: Barbara Moses, 87

Condolences to her family and friends.

Barbara (Bennett) Moses, 87, of Glastonbury, formerly of Avon, loving wife of Monroe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Hartford Hospital on August 23, 2018.

Barbara was born in Brockton, MA where she spent her childhood and then relocated to Hartford, attending Weaver High School. She went on to get her Associate degree at UConn, studying to be an X-Ray technician then switching to a dental assistant position.

Settling in Vernon for 33 years where she was a loving and caring housewife and mother to her children. She was married to the love of her life, Monroe for 66 years. Later moving to Avon for 30 years and settling in Glastonbury for the last 3 years.

Barbara had a passion and joy for her family, who always came first, where she cooked and celebrated their special occasions, birthdays and the times they spent together. She also had a love and passion for animals, especially dogs.

Barbara had memberships with many Jewish Women’s organizations, hosting functions at her home for local groups, politicians and friends. One of her favorite things was living as a longtime resident of Hyannis, MA, where she spent many summers watching the sunsets, shopping for antiques and eating at her favorite restaurants. She too spent many winters at her home in Palm Beach, FL.

Along with her husband Monroe, she is survived by her beloved children: Lynne D. Moses and her husband (predeceased) Erwin Klagge of Glastonbury; David A. Moses and his wife, Paula of Ellington. Her sister, Maxine Cyr and Marcel Coderre of Vernon ; her beloved nephews, Justyn Cyr and his wife, Sheila of Tolland; Barry Cyr and his wife Sheryl of Mystic; her great nieces and nephews along with many friends especially Ralph Lehmann of East Hartford, who touched her with his caring and thoughtfulness.

Barbara found the best in every person she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. Her beautiful smile touched many people who remembered her generosity and graciousness.

Funeral services will be held at Beth Sholom Memorial Park (part of East Cemetery), Autumn Street, Manchester, at 10:30 am on Monday, August 27, 2018.

Because of Barbara’s loving and generous nature, people may make a donation in Barbara’s honor to their favorite charity.
