Glastonbury Purchasing Three More Natural Gas Vehicles

Two pickups and a highway utility vehicle were purchased to replace older gasoline-powered vehicles.

In keeping with the town’s plan to replace old trucks, cars and vans with newer energy efficient vehicles, Glastonbury is purchasing three new natural gas-fueled trucks.

Two pickup trucks were purchased for the Glastonbury Parks and Recreation Department’s maintenance crews, while a utility vehicle was purchased for highway operations, according to Town Manager Richard Johnson.

While the alternative fuel vehicles are more expensive than their regular gasoline counterparts, the difference in price is covered by grants from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Recovery Act.
