Glastonbury Recycling Center To Shutdown Due To Illegal Dumping

One of the town's satellite recycling centers will be closed following years of illegal dumping.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The town council has voted to shutdown a satellite recycling center after years of problems with illegal dumping, The Hartford Courant reported. The center, which is located next to the fire station, will close by March 5.

Illegal dumping has become a growing problem since the satellite recycling program began in 1977. Items discarded at the site that are not recyclable include furniture, television sets, auto parts, and construction materials.

Entire loads of recyclables from the facility have been rejected due to contamination.
