Glastonbury School Board Approves New Union Agreements
The Board of Education reached agreements with the administrators, nurses and secretaries unions Monday.

The Glastonbury Board of Education reached agreements with several town unions Monday, including the school system’s administrators, nurses and secretaries.
During a meeting Monday, the school board and the union that represents Glastonbury’s administrators--Glastonbury School Administrators Association—reached a four-year agreement that would grant the town’s administrators a 2.7 percent raise in 2014-15, 2.8 percent in 2015-16, 2.9 percent in 2016-17 and 3 percent in 2017-18.
The agreement also calls for a higher pay category for the town’s special education director, in an effort to attract and retain candidates for the position.

The board reached an agreement with the town’s school nurses which grants a 2.5 percent raise in 2013-14, 2.75 percent in 2014 through 2016, and a 3 percent raise in 2017-18.
It also calls for an increase to the town pension fund from 3.75 percent of wages to 4.75 percent. The annual stipend for a head nurse was also increased from $9,000 to $12,000.

The board’s agreement with the secretary’s union—the Glastonbury Educational Secretaries and Paraprofessionals Union—calls for a 2 percent raise in 2013-14, with a 2.25 percent raise in 2014 through 2017. Their pension will also be raised from 3.75 to 4.75 percent.
The board also approved several two-year agreements for a 2.75 percent wage increase for bus drivers and crossing guards, as well as the school food service employees in 2013-14, with a 3 percent increase the following year.
