Glastonbury Superintendent Praised by School Board, Receiving 3.5% Raise

The Glastonbury Board of Education praised Superintendent Alan Bookman at their meeting earlier this week.

The Board of Education offered positive praise to the school district’s superintendent before unanimously approving a 3.5 percent raise for the second year of his three-year contract during their meeting Monday night.

“We’ve benefited greatly from his knowledge and expertise,” Board Chairwoman Susan Karp said of Superintendent Alan B. Bookman.

The school board unanimously approved a 3.5 percent increase in Bookman’s salary for the second year of his current three-year contract with the town, bringing his salary up to $223,000. During their Monday discussions, the board highlighted the fact that Bookman had received just a 1 percent raise over the past four years.
