Glastonbury becomes the sixth school to win this recognition in the sixth year of the competition. The award recognizes student cheering sections that demonstrate sportsmanship, school spirit, originality, and student section leadership through student-submitted videos. Glastonbury edged fellow finalist East Lyme High School in a narrow selection.
"Our CIAC staff was incredibly impressed with both finalists and the way they conducted themselves and represented their schools throughout this process," said Cherese Miller, CAS-CIAC director of student activities. "This was a tough choice but ultimately the selectors appreciated the spirit and support demonstrated by Glastonbury at a variety of events and the way the entire community is involved."

The selection process this year was the most rigorous in the six years of the competition. The initial submissions were voted on by members of the Student Athletic Advisory Board and the CIAC Sportsmanship to choose the two finalists. CAS-CIAC staff then judged the submissions and then followed up with site visits for multiple events and meetings with student leaders.
