Six years later, Murray was asked to go to the parent company in New York to establish a Corporate Communications function under the recently named CEO Reuben Mark. For the next 20 years Bob directed the group's work in internal communications, corporate events and meetings, crisis communications, public relations and assisted in Investor Relations and the work of the CEO. His job took him to over 50 countries all over the world from which he reported through a biannual video program the many initiatives of the global company in an effort to build a cohesive global organization and educate the investment community on the potential of emerging consumer markets. Murray was also a director of The Wisemen, an organization of senior practitioners in Corporate Communications and Public Relations. He retired from Colgate in 2003 to spend more time with Lynn, his wife of 23 years, his dogs and to pursue his many interests.

Today, Murray is the incoming Rear Commodore of the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club where he also serves as chairs of the Membership, Communications and Marketing committees. He is also an active member of the President's Council of the American Horticultural Society. Murray and his wife live in Glastonbury where their extensive gardens are part of the Garden Conservatory's annual Open Garden tours. They also spend time in their vacation villa in Nosara, Costa Rica, which they offer each year at the HSO Gala, and their condo in Stonington. Murray has been actively serving on the HSO Gala and Marketing committees, and is a devoted subscriber and donor.
