GLASTONBURY, CT — A 41-year-old Colchester woman has sued the Glastonbury Chili’s Grill & Bar, claiming the restuarant is responsible for both sexual harassment and owed wages.

The Connecticut Law Tribune outlined the case details this week.

The plaintiff in the case is Jill McAvoy. The lawsuit, filed Dec. 10 in New London Superior Court, comes on the heels of numerous settlements and lawsuits throughout the country against the chain. McAvoy’s lawyer, Waterbury-based solo practitioner Michelle Holmes, told Law Tribune she’d consider joining a class-action suit down the road.

The suit claims the chain underpaid McAvoy "tens of thousands of dollars" in the 11 years she worked there by not paying her full minimum wage for non-server work. McAvoy left Chili's in July 2019 "because everything became too overwhelming for her," Holmes told the Law Trubune.

The harassment claim is against the chain for not disciplining a male dishwasher who is accused of repeatedly touching her, according to the Law Tribune report.
