Man Dies In Connecticut River Crash In Glastonbury

Witnesses said the man drove through a field off Tyron Street then crashed into the river.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A driver died when he crashed into the Connecticut River on Saturday in Glastonbury, according to WFSB 3-TV. Callers told emergency services that a vehicle went through a field off of Tyron Street and plunged into the river just after noon.

Divers from the Portland and Middletown fire departments and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection assisted in the search for the vehicle.

The driver of the car was found dead inside the vehicle, which was submerged just offshore, according to The Journal-Inquirer.

The identity of the man was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
