Bin228 Gastropub Closes After Worker Tests Positive For COVID-19
A popular restaurant in Glastonbury has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, the owner announced.
GLASTONBURY, CT — A popular restaurant in Glastonbury has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, the owner announced Monday. Bin228 Gastropub, at 63 Hebron Ave., will be closed for 10 days to ensure all staff have an opportunity to be tested for COVID-19, according to owner Alicia Roncari.
Roncari said that during this time of “unprecedented uncertainty, all of us here at bin are concerned about the safety of our staff, families and customers.”
“Bin is more than a collection of employees; we are a family, and our hearts go out to our team member and their loved ones,” Roncari wrote in a post on Facebook. “We have temporarily closed the restaurant, updated all employees who may have been exposed to the virus, and urged all staff to be tested.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Roncari said the restaurant has taken “every precaution necessary to protect our staff and you, our guests.”
“We have worn masks and gloves, wiped down all touched surfaces throughout the work day, performed restroom check and ensured every table and chair is disinfected between seatings. Extra cleaning is done at night and first thing in the morning to insure the cleanliness of our restaurant. Our approach to COVID-19 has been – and will continue to be – consistent with all federal and state regulations regarding employee and guest safety.”

Roncari said they will close for 10 days, even though they aren’t required to do so, because they believe “this decision will ensure all staff have an opportunity to be tested and to review their testing results.” It will also allow the team to implement additional safety measures that “go above and beyond those required, as well as recommended, by state and federal law,” according to Roncari.
“As a mother of a teenage son and the daughter of a 95-year-old mother, in whose care I am an active participant, I am acutely aware of the precautions needed to keep them and myself safe,” she said. “I will continue to do so, for them and for you.”
