GLASTONBURY, CT — Opportunistic scammers are trying to take advantage of coronavirus concerns, police said.

Glastonbury police on Monday said they are sharing reports about people posing as representatives from the Centers for Disease Control going door-to-door, perhaps across the U.S., though no speficic towns were mentioned.

The scammers claim to be conducting a coronavirus "survey or investigation" and are seeking "personal information" from residents.

Said police, "The CDC is not conducting any such investigation and residents should not grant people claiming to be from the CDC access to their homes. Residents should instead contact police immediately.

"Police have no information that CDC is conduction phone surveys either, and people should not provide personal information over the phone."
