The Week Ahead: Sand Castles, Concerts and Kidding Around the Center

This week in Glastonbury, there are concerts, fun runs and a festival night just for kids!

Here’s a peek at what’s happening in Glastonbury this week. For a full list of stuff to do, check out the Patch calendar of events.

Sand Castle Contest at Eastbury Pond:  Children of all ages are invited to build sandcastles at Eastbury Pond on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Registration for the free event begins at the pond at 10:30 a.m. and is open to children of all ages.  Children may work on their castle individually or in groups.

Last Night of Kidding Around the Center:  This annual children’s fun fair and festival on the town center green has a whole host of fun, free activities for kids, as well as a few that require tickets for a nominal fee. The entertainment showcases some of the local community businesses and groups working with children.  The event, sponsored by the Glastonbury Town Center Initiatives, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Child/Adult Fun Runs:  If you’re not at Kidding Around the Center Tuesday night, maybe a series of fun runs at the Glastonbury High School grounds is more your speed.  These free fun runs begin with registration at 6:30 p.m. at Glastonbury High School, near the Gym entrance, for a 6:50 p.m. start time and include a one-mile children’s jog, and 2.4 mile and 3.5 mile for adults.  There are just three summer runs left, so get your shoes on now!

Uppercut at the Summer Music Festival:  This Wednesday is the penultimate concert in the 2013 Summer Concert Series on the green behind the Riverfront Community Center, 200 Welles St. Come by for food, music and fun!  The summer concerts presented by the Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce.
