Woman Dies In Glastonbury Route 2 Crash

GLASTONBURY, CT — A woman was killed in a crash on Route 2 in Glastonbury on Monday evening, according to State Police. Marie Mathieu, 68, of 23 Coco Drive in Colchester, died in the wreck.

According to police, Mark Herbst of Hartford was driving a Mercedes-Benz MI 350 on westbound Route 2 near the exit 9 ramp at 5:30 p.m.. Mathieu was pulled over on shoulder in a Toyota Camry.

The Mercedes struck the Camry, pushing the car into the guard rail.

Mathieu was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and died a short time later.

Herbst was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were towed with disabling damage. The crash remains under investigation.
