Former NFL Star's Waterfront Home In Greenwich Set For Auction

The Super Bowl-winning center bought the stunning home in 2014.

GREENWICH, CT -- Former All-Pro Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk is auctioning off his waterfront Greenwich home next month for a starting bid of $3.25 million, according to the listing on realtor.com.

Birk bought the home in 2014, a year after winning the Super Bowl, for $3.85 million and retired from the game following the victory. Prior to the Ravens, Birk played for 10 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, the team that drafted him, and he is opening a Catholic high school in the state, reports Burnsville Patch.

The Greenwich auction is scheduled for June 1 at the home, located at 26 Cobb Island Drive, and the sale is being handled by Professional Real Estate Auctions LLC of Avon, CT, writes the Greenwich Time.

This is the second time Birk has auctioned off a home. He did the same thing with a Baltimore area home in 2013, a move that Michael Pelzar, the presenting agent with PREA, told the publication can generate more interest and potentially lead to faster sales.

Birk's Greenwich home rests on just over an acre, was built in 1991, and was completely remodeled in 2008.
