GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich home believed to be where Oreos, the famous chocolate sandwich cookies, were developed has been listed for sale for $15.9 million.

According to Mansion Global, the home was formerly used as a summer home in the beginning of the 20th century by Adolphus W. Green, the chairman of the National Biscuit Company. The company is now known as Nabisco.

Mansion Global reports both Oreos and Barnum's Animal Crackers are believed to have been developed at the Greenwich home, according to the property's listing agent, John McAtee of the New England Land Company.

Fox Business reports the home's first owner, Horace A. Hutchins, sold his company to Standard Oil, then re-invested the proceeds and ultimately became business partners with John D. Rockefeller, adding to the property's interesting history.

According to Realtor.com listing, the majestic shingle-style estate located on Mayo Avenue is set upon highest point in the Belle Haven area of Greenwich.
