3 Injured In Groton Motorcycle Crash

Three people were injured when two motorcycles struck each other on Sunday.

GROTON, CT — A two-motorcycle Sunday afternoon crash left three people injured, according to police. Police said the crash was reported at 1:03 p.m. when two motorcycles traveling in opposite directions on Route 184 at Tollgate Road collided with each other.

The driver of a Harley Davidson, Robert Lombardo, 49, of Willington, and his passenger, Sara Cleveland, 45, of Manchester, were seriously injured in the wreck. Lombardo was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, and Clevaland was taken to Hartford Hospital.

The driver of a Suzuki, Christopher Stevens, 28, of Groton, was also injured in the crash. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London for treatment of his injuries.

The cause of this crash is under investigation by members of the Patrol Division of the Groton Police Department with assistance from accident reconstructionists who are members of the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit. This team consists of officers from Groton Town, Ledyard and Stonington Police Departments.
