3 Overdoses in Less Than 3 Hours, One Fatal: Groton Police Investigating
Two of the victims were revived with the use of NARCAN and one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Center Groton Fire Department posted that plea on Facebook after three overdoses occurred in Groton in less than three hours. One of the overdoses was fatal.
The three overdoses were separate incidences, police said. Two of the victims were revived with the use of NARCAN and one was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Town of Groton Police Department shared the following information via Facebook on April 16:
At 5:44 p.m., members of the Groton Town Police Department, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, and medics from Lawrence and Memorial Hospital responded to a business on Gold Star Highway, for a report of an unresponsive male in the bathroom.
Upon arrival emergency responders discovered a 34-year-old male, unresponsive. Life saving measures were taken, including the use of NARCAN, and the victim was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He is expected to survive.
At 8:06 p.m., members of the Groton Town Police Department, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, and Medics from Lawrence and Memorial Hospital responded to 164 “D” Street for a report of an unresponsive male.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders discovered a 29-year-old male, unresponsive. Life saving measures were taken, including the administration of NARCAN, and the victim was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He is expected to survive.
While still at the “D” Street scene, other members of the Groton Town Police Department, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, and Medics from Lawrence and Memorial Hospital responded to 193 Midway Oval for a report of an unresponsive male.
Upon arrival at the third scene, emergency responders discovered a 44-year-old male, unresponsive. Emergency responders were unable to revive this victim. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation determined that all three incidents are apparent opioid overdoses, police said.
