Boston Marathon 2018: How Groton Runners Fared
Hundreds of Connecticut residents were among the nearly 30,000 runners registered to run the world's oldest annual marathon Monday.

BOSTON, MA — Nearly 30,000 official entrants braved the elements and packed the starting line in Hopkinton, Mass. on Monday to compete in the Boston Marathon, the world's oldest annual marathon. They anticipated the challenge of completing the 26.2 mile course, including the dreaded "Heartbreak Hill" between the 20- and 21-mile marks, near Boston College.
They came from 94 countries and all 50 states, with hundreds of Connecticut residents participating.
In Groton, Peter Zelken, 37, finished 132nd among Connecticut residents and 8,823rd overall. His time was 3:33:05.

Douglas Jannusch, 49, finished 186th among Connecticut residents and 12,634th overall. His time was 3:47:11.
Michelle Hamilton, 49, finished 317th among Connecticut residents and 22,480th overall. Her time was 4:53:26.
