Just for fun

Monday: Ribbon cutting commemorating the opening of the Civil War 150 Exhibit at the Groton Public Library at 7 p.m.

Tuesday: Freemen for Freemont: Music of the Civil War Era with Rick Spencer. This musical program promotes an understanding of the United States on the brink of Civil War. 7 p.m.

Wednesday: “Connecticut, the Civil War & the Sea with Glen S. Gordinier” This program will examine how the shipyards, the shipping and the sailors of the Nutmeg State supported the cause on the maritime front lines.

Thursday: The Writer’s Block Ink in collaboration with CT Landmarks and the Hempsted House of New London opens with The Slave Inside of Me, which examines slavery past and present. The show runs through the weekend and tickets are on sale now. You can buy tickets at the Writer’s Block Ink at 446 Coleman Street in New London. 

Friday: Cocktails with the Whales tonight! Mystic Aquarium's Arctic Coast belugas play as you walk around and enjoy cocktails and appetizers.
