City Police Share Holidays Events

Holiday festival, toys, coats and blood drive are among the events city police hope the community will attend.

GROTON CITY, CT — City police took to social media to encourage citizens to attend a number of holiday events they are participating in.

The Women and Men serving in the City of Groton Police Department have three events this month of December that we want to ensure the public is aware of and participates in. This coming Thursday Night from 6 to 8 PM we have the City of Groton Holiday Festival featuring a visit from Santa Claus. This child friendly event is free and provides light refreshments and lasting childhood memories. With performances by the West Side Middle School Band, Sacred Heart Youth Choir and St. John’s Church Choir. All are welcome at the event MC’d by our Youth Officer Scott Lesage.

This coming Saturday December 7th from 9 to 3 we have our third annual Toy, Coat (new or gently used) and Food drive at the City of Groton Municipal Building. St. John’s Church is assisting us again with the coat portion and all collected will be used to assist local needy. Our food drive in honor of City of Groton resident Gemma Moran. We expect Santa, McGruff and many to attend, contribute and say hello. No child should ever go without a new toy this time of year, no one should bear the Winter cold without a coat, and our food endangered local residents need food. Let’s get in the holiday spirit and make a difference.

On December 19th a Thursday between 12:30 and 6:30 PM our agency is sponsoring a Blood Drive at the City of Groton Municipal Building. There is a critical need at local hospitals during the holidays. In this event we partner with the Red Cross and again encourage a food item donation to help local food endangered residents.
