Groton Restaurant With 'Best Sandwich' Opens For To-Go Orders

A summer classic named for having the best sandwich in the state will be reopening for to-go orders.

GROTON, CT — Abbott's Lobster in the Rough, a popular Noank establishment, has announced that it will in fact be bringing its legendary lobster rolls back this summer, but only for takeout.

The restaurant posted the following on Facebook:

"THREE days until the 2020 summer season starts! While our Great First Customer Race has been postponed until everyone has a fair chance to compete, we will be opening for the season as scheduled 10-5 this Friday for to-go orders. We have MOST of our menu including the favorites!"

The Hot Lobster Roll at Abbott's recently earned the distinction of being the best sandwich in Connecticut, according to The Daily Meal.

Here's what they had to say: "Steaming lobsters and other shellfish since 1947, Abbott's is one of America's best seafood shacks, turning out stellar lobster rolls in a handful of increasing sizes," the article reads. "Its Famous Hot Lobster Roll comes with a quarter-pound of butter-soaked lobster on a toasted bun. The OMG Hot Lobster Roll boasts almost a half-pound, while the LOL Hot Lobster Roll packs in a full pound of lobster."
