Daily Five: Probate Court Will Move To Larger Office
Five Things To Know Friday, Aug. 17

1. Today is Friday, Aug. 17. The National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies, a high temperature of 81 degrees and a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. The low will drop to 68 degrees tonight.
2. Probate Judge Nick Kepple told the town council this week that he needs a larger office in Groton Town Hall. The size of the court doubled when it was reorganized, but the probate office did not, so he looked at spaces including the former Ledge Light Health District building and William Seely School. Neither would work, he said. The plan is to move the court into the town office where the registrars are located, and make some adjustments such as installing a counter and adding work stations.
3. continues at 6:30 p.m. today in Washington Park. The band 9Teen, which has performed all over New England, will play. Concerts are free and co-sponsored by Groton Utilities and the City of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.
