Five Things To Know, Wednesday, Sept. 12

1. Today is Wednesday, Sept. 12. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies, a high temperature of 75 degrees and a low of 57 tonight.
2. The Town Council's personnel committee voted Tuesday to recommend appointment of . Everett served on Groton's Zoning Board of Appeals from 1972 until 1981. The full council must now vote to approve the appointment.
3. Cutler Middle School has 460 students enrolled this fall and students are divided roughly evenly among grades, Principal Bob Pendolphi told the school board this week. Class sizes at Cutler are in the high teens and low 20s. This is a change from last year, when some classes formerly had 24 and 25 students.

4. West Side has 508 to 520 students enrolled, depending on the day. Sixth and eighth grade classes are the largest, and have class sizes in the low to mid 20s. In eighth grade, one class has 24 students. Seventh grade classes are 18 to 20 students each, Principal John Jones said.
5. Groton Public Schools have started breakfast programs at two additional schools – Northeast Academy and Cutler Middle School. The district plans to expand the program to Pleasant Valley Elementary and Mary Morrisson Elementary in January.
