Emergency Management: Every Groton Street Has At Least One Clear Lane

If you still have no power, call CL&P at (800) 286-2000.

Groton's Office of Emergency Management reports that every street in town is now open - meaning at least one lane has been plowed.

"If we have somehow completely missed your street, call 860-445-2000 and let us know and we will arrange to have a plow open the street," the office said.

Snow plow drivers were trying to clear every street to the curb as best it could Sunday, to clear drains prior to getting more rain and avoid flooding. Emergency Management said plowing would generate complaints about snow being pushed back into people's driveways, but there was no way to avoid that.

Connecticut Light & Power reported all but one customer in Groton has power this morning.

"If the power line to your house/business is down, make sure you call it into CL&P at 800-286-2000. It seems like we always end up with a couple of homes without power, even though power was restored to the street because the homeowner did not call. If in doubt, call it in to make sure CL&P has you on their list," emergency management said.

CL&P has crews working on main circuits that feed neighborhoods, emergency management said. For example, they were working Sunday to islolate an outage on Rt 215. Once they did that, they would be able to restore power to a large portion of the Mystic area.
