Falcons Marching Band to Host Band Competition at Fitch
Thousands of people saw them march in Washington D.C. and now it's our turn!

Our now famous Falcons Marching Band has announced that they'll host their 2nd annual band competition among six schools right at Fitch High School at the end of this month!
Larry Grundy, president of the Falcons Music Boosters said the program, called "Sounds by the Sea," will include the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats, Montville High Marching Indians, Putnam High School Clippers, East Lyme High School Marching Vikings, New London Whaler Pride Marching Band and the Rockville High School Marching Band. Grundy said this is the first contest of the year for these bands, who will be judged on everything from music to marching, to uniforms to the color guard.Â
The Falcons Marching Band's fame comes from their recent performance at the nation's Capitol during the annual Independent Day parade. The band was selected after accruing lots of points in band competitions last year and the National Parade Committee selected them to represent Connecticut in the parade.Â
Grundy said, "the kids did a fantastic job and the streets were lined with hundreds of thousands of people."
The rain or shine event is September 21 and the show starts at 5 p.m. There is a $10 charge to get in the door, which will help fund costs like transportation, uniforms, equipment, etc.
