Groton Fall Festival: Biggest Year Ever

Groton’s Fall Festival is coming up and judging from the list of vendors and by talking to Parks and Recreation Manager Jerry Lokken, this is one you shouldn't miss. 

The festival “was born from an idea to create a community-wide event that would attract artists, crafters and businesses and nonprofit organizations to display their wares and information” according to the Groton Business Association (GBA) and has grown dramatically. 

In its eighth year now, the festival has grown from 70 booths and vendors to about 130, which includes a selection of vendors that run the entire gambit of possibilities. From the delicious, like The Rolling Tomato, to the patriotic like the Groton Registrars of Voters, from the pain relieving, like Inner Wisdom Chiropractic, to the super cool, like Fitch Robotics Club.

People interested in participating have 'til Friday to register but you can click here for an updated list of vendors. 

Entertainment includes Steve Elci and Friends, the LifeStar helicopter, local radio station giveaways and roving performers. 

Lokken said proceeds from the festival are put right back into the community. Last year they made enough money to fund the entire Holiday Lights Parade. The event is a collaborative effort between Groton’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Groton Business Association. 

The festival is rain or shine and is Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Poquonnock Plains Park. 

There will be free parking and free shuttle service from Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School, which can be found at 189 Fort Hill Road.
