Groton Naval Base Sailor Sentenced On Sex Abuse Charges: Feds
A technician at the Naval Sub Base has been sentenced on federal charges that he abused a 13-year-old victim.
GROTON, CT — A technician based at the Naval Sub Base in Groton has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for sexually abusing a minor on base grounds in 2018, according to a statement from John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Chazzman Chung, 29, will also serve five years of supervised release.
Chung was arrested on state charges in April 2019 of risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer. He was then arrested on federal charges Oct. 17, 2019.
Chung is accused of taking the 13-year-old boy, who he met via the Grindr app, to the sub base while the boy was home sick from school in Griswold. He then took the boy to Navy barracks where he engaged in illegal sexual activity with the victim, according to the statement.

Chung has pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.
Chung, who is released on a $25,000 bond, has been ordered by the court report to prison in 90 days.
