Groton School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Groton is August 31 for grades 1-12 and September 5 for kindergarten, preK and preschool. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Groton School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/31: First Day of School for Grades 1-12, Kindergarten Screening

September

• 9/1: Kindergarten Screening
• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: First day for Kindergarten, PreK, Preschool
• 9/19: Early Dismissal (TLI)

October

• 10/9: Columbus Day
• 10/17: Early Dismissal (TLI)
• 10/25 - 10/27: Early Dismissal (Parent Teacher Conferences)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 11/10: No School (Veteran's Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Vacation)

December

• 12/12: Early Dismissal (TLI)
• 12/22: Early Dismissal (Holiday)
• 12/25 - 12/29: No School (Winter Holiday Vacation)

January
