Groton Store Employee Stole $20K Of Merchandise: Report

A Groton man has been arrested on allegations that he stole more than $20,000 in merchandise.

GROTON, CT — A Groton man has been charged on accusations that he stole more than $20,000 of merchandise from a convenience store where he worked, The Day reported. Jay E. Berberich, 55, of 163 Midway Oval, has been charged with first-degree larceny.

Berberich is accused of stealing $22,819.53 in a 24-day period from late May through June from Sunny's Food Mart on Gold Star Highway. The store claimed that Berberich would steal multiple cartons of cigarettes each day along with other merchandise, according to The Day.
