Groton Town Police Swear In 2 New Officers
Daniel Fortunato and Sharif Afifi will train for six months at the Connecticut Police Academy and after, will be assigned to patrol.

GROTON, CT — From what's described as a "talented and diverse pool," Groton Town Police welcomed two new police officers to its ranks Friday.
Officer Daniel Fortunato and officer Sharif Afifi are set to begin six months of training at the Connecticut Police Academy and after, will be assigned to the patrol division where they both will complete their initial police officer field training, police noted in a Facebook post.
Fortunato, a New York native, attended Utica College and the University of Albany.

Afifi, of Guilford, begins his new career as a police officer after years working in the human resources field. He holds a bachelors and an MBA from Indiana State University.
