Heroin, More Than 14 Vehicles Seized From Groton Business: Police
149 grams of heroin were seized from U.S. Wholesalers, located at 114 South Rd. in Groton, and a 31-year-old Groton man was arrested.
At approximately 9:17 a.m. Monday, May 23, detectives and officers from the Town of Groton Police Department and members of the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, with the assistance of the FBI, executed a search and seizure warrant at U.S. Wholesalers, located at 114 South Rd., Groton.
The focus of the investigation was based on the sale and distribution of heroin and opioids in southeastern Connecticut. The case was developed after information developed in nearby Waterford, during an unrelated investigation.
As part of this ongoing investigation, officers arrested Jose Davila, 31, of 300 Branford Ave., Groton, on the following charges:
- Possession of over one ounce of heroin with intent to sell
- Possession of heroin with intent to sell
- Possession of heroin
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Altering of a firearm’s serial number
During the search, investigators reportedly located and seized 149 grams of heroin, some of which was packaged for sale. Also located was material associated with distribution, including cutting agents, packaging materials and scales.
During the search , a .380 caliber pistol was seized and it was subsequently discovered that the serial number of the pistol was allegedly obliterated.
"As a result of the search, Task Force Officers seized numerous assets of the business, including three campers, five cars, including a Bentley luxury sedan, several commercial vehicles, multiple ATVs, motor cycles and six motor scooters," police said.
The Regional Community Enhancement Task Force consists of officers and detectives who work collaboratively to address the current opioid epidemic in southeastern Connecticut.
Detectives and officers from Groton Town, Groton City, Waterford, Stonington, Ledyard, East Lyme, Norwich Police Department's adult probation, and the Department of Parole, as well as agents from the FBI and NCIS, participated in this investigation.
