This May marks the 150th anniversary of Memorial Day. According to Wikipedia, the Internet’s free encyclopedia, “Noank hosts the longest-running continuous Memorial Day parade in the country.”
Is this really true?
Join us as the Noank Historical Society reveals the answer to this question along with surprising new information uncovered by an extensive research project. As the evening unfolds, you will:
*Explore the origins of Memorial Day;
*Relive Noank’s first Memorial Day observance;
*Reflect on astonishing tales of villagers who gave the last full measure of devotion to the country they loved; and
*Revisit Noank’s past Memorial Day traditions through historic photographs.
