Make A Kid's Christmas: Here's Where To Donate Toys In Groton

From Toys For Tots, police and fire departments, businesses, and community groups, there are many opportunities for people to donate toys.

GROTON, CT —It’s that time of year when it’s hoped that generous residents will donate new, unwrapped toys for children in need.

Here are some local toy drives.

Groton, New London, Waterford, East Lyme, Oakdale, Branford, and Guilford


Madeline's Wish Toy Drive will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to help bring Christmas to the children at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital . The hospital treats patients up to 18. Teens need gifts, too, like gift cards for Amazon or iTunes.

This year's drop-off locations are:

East Celebrity Elite, Oakdale
Ferry Slip Dokominiums, New London
Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Centers, New London

Purple Bear, Guilford (10% off any toy purchased at the store for this cause).

Groton
Dec.12
The 9th annual Town of Groton Police toy drive partners with the Mystic Marriott. People should drive up, drop off the toys or toys and pick up a hot beverage to go. Toys will be given to Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut for distribution. 625 North Road, Groton.

On Dec. 7, at The Spot Cafe from 12 to 3, it's Stuff the VW Bus

Two Roads Brewing company and will have the VW bus on site for a toy and coat drive to benefit the Groton Social Services. We will be raffling off a Two Roads Brewing LED sign and be giving away other prizes as well. The jolly old man himself will be in attendance to snap selfies with guests.

Oakdale

Chesterfield Fire Company, 1606 Route 85 Monday through Friday from 8 to 4, Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Branford

Purple Fuel is a Toys For Tots official drop-off until Dec. 13. From Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., people can drop off toys at 45 Rose Hill Road and get 5 cents off per gallon of fuel oil.

Dec. 7 Branford Green Annual Toy Drive from 10 to 1 p.m., in front of Town Hall. New unwrapped toys will be collected for the Branford Counseling Center.

Branford Fire Department at 45 North Main St. is collecting toys until Dec. 18.

Supercuts, located at 1060 West Main St. is collecting for the Yale-New Haven Hospital Pediatric Unit’s Toy Closet.

Madison

At the Madison Police Department, toys can be dropped off anytime through December.
The collected toys will first be distributed to Madison families in need the week before Christmas. The remaining toys will be transported to the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital to benefit the Toy Closet Program.

North Branford

The Social Services department is collecting toys until Dec. 10.

On Dec. 7, from 10 to 4, North Haven Police will be at Target Plaza on Universal Drive collecting new, unwrapped gifts.

East Haven
Vietnam Veterans Toy Drive is Dec. 8 from 10 to 2 at the East Haven Beach House.

American Legion Post 89 is holding a toy drive on Dec. 13.

Guilford

The Guilford Police Department has a box ready and waiting for toys and gifts for kids up to age 14..

Fair Street Advisors is a Toys For Tots drop-off.

The Henry Whitfield Museum is another Toys For Tots drop-off through Dec. 10
