Man Faces Numerous Gun Charges In Groton: Police

A man was arrested at a local motel on several illegal weapons charges.

GROTON, CT — Police arrested a man Tuesday morning on multiple gun charges. Joseph Tonelli, 37, a resident of the Flagship Inn and Suites, 470 Gold Star Hwy, Groton, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, altering identification marks on a firearm; illegal sale, delivery, or transfer of a pistol; possession of a high capacity magazine; illegal sale, delivery or transfer of a long gun; and criminal possession of a firearm.

Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., New London police, along with members of the ATF and Groton Town police, served an active weapons related arrest warrant.

Tonelli was taken into custody without incident.
