Mountain Biker Suffers Severe Injuries In Groton Forest

A mountain biker was transported via helicopter to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

GROTON, CT — A mountain biker was taken by LifeStar helicopter to the hospital after suffering severe injuries Wednesday afternoon, according to The New London Day. Two hikers in the Merritt Family forest called 911 around 4:30 p.m. after finding a man who could not move due to serious injuries.

Groton Town Police, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department personnel, and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital paramedics all responded to the call. The injured man was extracted from the forest and brought to the police department parking lot where a LifeStar helicopter picked him up and transported him to Hartford Medical Center.
