Monday: Most everything is closed today but the Board of Education - Finance/Facilities Committee is meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex - Community Room 1.

Tuesday: The Jabez Smith House Committee meets at 4:30 in the Jabez Smith House; Old Mystic Fire Department Board of Director's Meeting meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Mystic Fire District Station 1; the Board of Education - Regular Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. in the Groton Senior Center; Historic District Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex - Community Room 2; Noank Fire District Zoning Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Noank Fire House;  Town Council Personnel/Appointments/Rules/Legislation Committee - Special Meeting meets at 7 p.m. at  Town Hall Annex - Community Room 1; Old Mystic Fire Department Regular Membership Meeting meets at 7:30 p.m. at Old Mystic Fire District Station 1; Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m . at Town Hall Annex - Community Room 1.

Wednesday: Housing Authority and Redevelopment Agency meets at 2 p.m.; Poquonnock Bridge Fire District Board of Directors Special Meeting meets at 7 p.m. at the Groton Senior Center.

Thursday: Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) Steering Committee meets at 6 p.m. at Town Hall Annex - Community Room 2;  POCD Steering Committee meets at 6 p.m. at Town Hall Annex - Community Room 2; Harbor Management Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. in Noank Fire House.

Just for Fun

Monday: Tish Rabe, children’s book author of titles that include the series of non-fiction Dr. Seuss science books, reads, discusses and signs her books at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. $32 family, $20 DPNC members or $8 and $5 member; registration required; (860) 536-1216.

Tuesday: Drop-in after school to take advantage of some exciting activities going on at the Groton Public Library for Teen Read Week 2013: Seek the Unknown. It’s Percy Jackson Tuesday which features mythology trivia, so test your knowledge and see if you can get all the questions right.

Wednesday: Wizarding Wednesday at the Groton Public Library will feature a drop-in craft where we will be creating our very own magic wands. These aren't you typical wands either, you'll be surprised at how real they look. Drop in after school around 2:30 p.m.

Thursday: Hunger Games Thursday at the Groton Library will feature a drop-in craft where we will be creating miniature bows and arrows. Drop in after school around 2:30.

Friday: Fairy Tale Friday will feature a fairy tale themed scavenger hunt throughout the library. Can you find them all? Drop in after school around 2:30 p.m.
