Obituary: Ernesto Reyes Soriano, 93, Of Groton

Ernesto Reyes Soriano, MD., 93, of Groton, CT died peacefully, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Mystic Healthcare & Rehab Center where he was a resident for the past four years. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Morin) Soriano of 58 years.

Born in the Philippines, he was the son of the late Gavino and Maria (Reyes) Soriano. He and his wife have lived in Groton for the past 50 years.

Dr. Soriano received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Dr. Soriano was a psychiatrist in Groton and had been in practice in Connecticut for more than 50 years.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a sister, Elsie Quinit, of Toronto, Canada; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 2nd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mystic Funeral Home, located on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church (Groton Long Point Road, Groton).

Following his mass, he will be buried at the Starr Cemetery (Lestertown Road, Groton). Friends and family are invited back to St. Mary’s Church Hall after the interment for light refreshments.
