Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Groton Crash
A man was injured in an accident on Gold Star Highway early Friday morning.

GROTON, CT — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash early Friday morning, according to a police statement. Emergency services received the call at 12:38 a.m. regarding a car accident involving a pedestrian at Gold Star Highway near the intersection with Toll Gate Road.
Hector Acostaortiz, 71, of New London, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape westbound on Gold Star Highway when a pedestrian entered the road from the southbound side. The car struck the pedestrian as he ran across the roadway, according to police.
The pedestrian, Eric Canela, 21, of Cranston, RI, was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
