Groton, CT, September 2, 2020-
The classrooms at Sacred Heart School in Groton are once again filled with happy young voices. Colorful bulletin boards brighten the halls. The students may be physically farther apart, and masks, and temperature scanners are among the new
rules; but that doesn’t seem to lessen the excitement are finally being back together.
Although teachers were able to keep the students engaged during the Spring with creative Zoom lessons and projects, they
too are happy to see everyone in person again.

“Our focus has always been to create a safe, nurturing environment for our students. We’ve
been working since March on putting everything in place to be able to return safely. It’s
wonderful to see it all finally come together” – Dr. Gail Kingston, principal.
Because Sacred Heart is one of the few local schools to be open full time, five days a week for in person learning, there has
been a spate of last-minute enrollments. Smaller class sizes have meant a few classes have filled up, but space is still
available in most grades.
