Social Media Help, Rewind and Eastern Point Summer Reading Series

Five things to know today, August 8.

  1. Our plants might be happy about today's forecast. The National Weather Services says showers and thunderstorms are likely today before 9am, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Same goes for tonight. Today's high temperature will be around 74 and the tonight's low temperature may be around 70.
  2. Rewind is the featured during tonight’s Summer SoundWaves Concert Series at Esker Point Beach. There’s free parking and shuttle rides at Fitch High School and there’s parking at Esker Point Beach for $10 a car, $5 a motorcycle. Since rain is forecast for today and tonight, call the Parks and Rec hotline at 441-6791 after 3 p.m. today to see if the concert is canceled.
  3. Do you have a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account? Need help navigating the site, or have any questions regarding privacy settings?  Bring your frequently asked social media questions to the Groton Public Library from 10:30 to 12 and they will get them answered for you in a hands-on environment.
  4. Today through Saturday from 9 am-5 pm the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is hosting a Cultural Survival Bazaar. It’s a festival of indigenous arts and cultures from around the world. Watch craft-making demonstrations and purchase ethnic clothing, jewelry, musical instruments, Hmong embroidery, crafts, rugs, and accessories. Enjoy Hawaiian and Native American live performances, and ethnic cuisine.
  5. Today’s the last day to enjoy a summer story at Eastern Point Beach. A librarian will be there at 10:30 to read to your child.
