State Police Investigating After Gunshot Injury At Groton Airport
A person suffered a "life-threatening" gunshot wound, described as being accidental, Monday afternoon at the Groton-New London Airport.

GROTON, CT — State police are investigating after a person suffered a gunshot wound at the Groton New London Airport Monday afternoon, police said.
Groton Town Police responded to the incident at the airport but Deputy Chief Paul Gately said that it had taken place on state property and the matter was turned over to Connecticut State Police at Troop E in Montville.
After a Patch request, the state police public information officer said troopers were called to the airport at around `12:45 p.m. for a person who suffered "life-threatening" gunshot wound injuries. State police said that there "appears to be no criminal aspect at this time," but added its Eastern District Major Crime unit is currently on scene.

The person was transported by LifeStar to an area hospital. It was reported that the gunshot wound was to the person's head.
Initially, the incident was reported have been at the Connecticut Army National Guard 1109th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group located at the airport, but public affairs officer Capt. David Pytlik told Patch the incident occurred adjacent to the TASMG station and did not involve Army National Guard staff. He said a "state worker" was involved.

Patch was told, and it was reported, that the gunshot injury incident was "accidental."
