Winter Team State Championship History: Fitch High School

GROTON, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the 11 CIAC winter team titles won by Fitch High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team). Note: Grasso Tech has never won a team championship.

• boys indoor track (8) - Class M: 1999, 1990, 1960, 1959, 1958, 1957, 1956, 1955
• girls gymnastics (2) - State Open: 2009*; Class L: 2009*
• wrestling (2) - Class L: 2002, 1988
• boys ice hockey (1) - Div. III: 2018*
