Drive-Thru Approved for Restaurant at Guilford Commons

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the drive-thru by special permit.

Developer DDR Corp. received approval on Wednesday from the Planning and Zoning Commission for a drive-thru at the already approved location for a restaurant, the New Haven Register reports.

The restaurant will be located at the “Guilford Commons” on the west end of town. The commission approved the developer’s proposal to build the 139,000-square-foot shopping center at 1919 Boston Post Road in July.

According to the Register, residents were concerned about added traffic as well as noise and fumes from cars. John Knuff, an attorney representing DDR Corp., addressed the residents’ concerns at the Planning and Zoning meeting and asserted that no fast-food chain would consider the location.
