Cops: Man Threatened Girlfriend With Knife In A Text

Police said Matthew Thoman, 27, of Uncasville had knives in his car when he was taken into custody.

LEDYARD, CT —A 27-year-old man has been charged after police say he sent text messages to his girlfriend threatening to hurt her with a knife.

Police were called to the woman's home and there saw the texts they say were sent by Matthew Thoman "which clearly threatened bodily harm with a knife."

They later found the Uncasville man and took him into custody. They said he had "multiple knives" in his car.

Thoman, of 32 Tra Mart Drive, was charged with first-degree assault, criminal attempt and second-degree threatening, and possession of weapons in a motor vehicle. He will be brought to court today, police said.
