The police department has issued a warning about scams popping up recently.

LEDYARD, CT — The police department is warning about scams that have been popping up during the coronavirus pandemic.

The department released the following statement:

We want to inform our community about the many scams associated with this current health emergency and provide information on how to best avoid these scams.

They range from phishing emails purporting to be from the CDC or World Health Organization; attempts to get banking information while referencing a stimulus check from the government, and even in-person attempts in some parts of the country to gain access to homes under the guise of virus testing.
