Updated: Driver Killed In Inchcliffe Drive Rollover Involved In Earlier Hit and Run
The vehicle went off the road, struck a tree and utility pole, rolled over, struck a guardrail at the intersection with Smith Pond Way, and came to a rest upside down in Smith Pond.

Update, July 2:
The 23-year-old Plainville woman killed in the June 25 rollover on Inchcliffe Drive had been involved in a hit-and-run earlier that evening on Route 12, according to a press release from the Connecticut State Police.
According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Planeta was involved in a minor accident on Route 12 southbound just north of the Gales Ferry business district and left the scene in her 2009 GMC Sierra. The report states that Planeta turned west onto Inchcliffe Drive and lost control of the vehicle while attempting to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the road, struck a tree and utility pole, rolled over, struck a guardrail at the intersection with Smith Pond Way, and came to a rest upside down in Smith Pond.
Planeta was ejected from the car and found on the ground. She was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with significant head trauma and later transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The driver of the car involved in a rollover on Inchcliffe Drive Tuesday night died.
Ledyard police identified the woman as 23-year-old Heather Planeta of 17 Robidoux Road, Plainville.
Lt. Michael Finkelstein said she was taken to L+M Hospital and then transferred to Yale-New Haven, where she was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy was being done Thursday.
Police gave this account of the accident:
On June 25, 2013 at 10:49 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a one-vehicle roll over accident with the possible ejection of the vehicle operator on Inchcliffe Drive at Smith Pond Way in Gales Ferry.
Officers from the Ledyard Police Department & Troopers from the CT State Police, along with the Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedic responded.
The Ledyard Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident, along with the report that the vehicle involved in this accident had been involved in an evading accident on Route 12 shortly before the roll over.
