Foxwoods To Celebrate Lunar New Year

Foxwoods will celebrate the Lunar New Year with cultural events and activities for all ages.

MASHANTUCKET, CT – Foxwoods Resort Casino will celebrate the Lunar New Year with cultural events and activities for all ages. To welcome the Year of the Pig, this year’s festivities will include a food festival with authentic Asian delicacies and performances, as well as the annual traditional Lion Dance and procession, according to a press release.

When: Friday, Feb. 8 through Sunday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily

Enjoy a selection of Asian-style food and drinks while learning about Chinese culture at the street fair-style Food Festival. Traditional Chinese New Year delicacies, artwork and costumes will be on display and available for purchase. Unforgettable performances including a sword dance, long pot tea presentation, Szechuan acrobat routine, Chinese folk dancing and martial arts demonstration will take place at the Celebration Zone on the Great Cedar Concourse. This family-friendly event is open to all ages.

Chinese New Year Lion Dance

Where: Starting in the Grand Pequot Hotel Lobby and ending in Rainmaker Square

When: Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m.

To bring good luck for the year ahead, the Boston Chinese Freemasons Athletic Club will once again perform the traditional and beloved Lion Dance. Beginning in the Grand Pequot Hotel Lobby, the spectacular parade will proceed to the Grand Pequot Casino rotunda and culminate with the Grand Finale in Rainmaker Square. Guests should be on the lookout for the “Money God” handing out Lucky Red Envelopes.
