Ledyard Library Program Entices Kids to Participate in Summer Reading
Kids and teens can win big prizes simply by reading this summer.

LEDYARD, CT- The Bill and Gales Ferry libraries began their summer reading program Monday and will run until August 13, as reported by The Day.
The program is divided into three groups based on age: a first grade program, a younger age program and a teenage program, The Day reported. The program typically sees 250-300 kids in the two younger programs, while the teen program tends to see 50-75.
Students log their hours spent reading this summer and can redeem them for book bucks, which can be spent on candy, toys and books at a small Bill Library store, according to The Day. Kids can also use book bucks to enter to win prizes, including a Kindle, although there are also prizes at the end of the year for the most volunteer hours and the most books read.
