Ledyard Remains in Top 10 in Latest Wrestling Coaches Poll

The Colonels are among the most successful wrestling programs in state history.

LEDYARD, CT — For the second straight week, Danbury High School was a unanimous selection as Connecticut's top wrestling team in the latest weekly coaches poll.

The Hatters received first-place votes from all 15 coaches who voted in the Week 2 poll.

Ledyard, which has won a record 19 state class championships and a State Open, is currently ranked 10th.

The top 10 teams and their records through Jan. 1:

  1. Danbury (5-0)
  2. Bristol Eastern (7-0)
  3. New Milford (3-0)
  4. Newtown (2-1)
  5. Fairfield Warde (4-0)
  6. Trumbull (8-0)
  7. Xavier (4-0)
  8. Windham (10-0)
  9. Southington (6-1)
  10. Ledyard (8-2)

Also receiving votes: Ellis Tech, Platt, Killingly, Foran, New Fairfield, Montville, Westhill, East Haven, Guilford, Hand, Masuk, Shelton, New London, Brien McMahon, Fairfield Ludlowe.
